Dr. Bernie Cartaya
NEONATOLOGY DEPARTMENT
Jackson North Medical
Center
" I have been with Sheridan Healthcare since 1989 and truthfully, they do not
feel like a big corporation. They have been there for me, in my good times and bad
times. This is the main reason why I am so loyal. It feels more like a bunch of
doctor friends trying to get a job done." "When I joined the group. I
was a doctor (neonatologist), but with them I have learned the administrative side
to the business, which is usually taken for granted as unimportant by most doctors,
but it is really the backbone of our business".
Dr. Anil Sharma,
NEONATOLOGY DEPARTMENT
Inova Loudoun
Hospital
"Sheridan allows me to independently practice neonatology - they are always
available as a resource but do not micromanage like some other groups."
Dr. Gordon H. Minton,
ANESTHESIA DEPARTMENT
John Peter Smith Hospital
"Sheridan Healthcare manages aspects of the business that take time away from
the actual practicing of anesthesia and medicine leaving me to devote my attention
to what I want to do. Being a national company, there are other Sheridan programs
that I can work with if I wanted to move, providing flexibility for me as my life
choices change. It has been a positive move in my career to join the Sheridan Healthcare
team; they have provided countless opportunities to increase the level of practice
participation."
Dr. Mitchell Stern,
NEONATALOGY DEPARTMENT
Plantation General Hospital
"Being employed by Sheridan has allowed me to concentrate on being a physician,
not a businessman. My coworkers and I can devote our attention to the medical side
of our job knowing that a large corporation is watching the business side. Being
part of a large entity has allowed us to streamline to a degree, but it has only
had a positive impact on the way we do our job. We are not micromanaged. No one
tells us how to practice neonatology. We also have the advantage of belonging to
a multi specialty organization. This gives us some leverage in the hospitals we
work in. Before we joined we were at the mercy of the hospital administration. Now
they know that adverse decisions they make about us could impact their emergency
room services, their anesthesia services, and their radiology services. It
could also impact some of the Sheridan private practice docs that utilize the hospital."
"Sheridan has allowed me to continue to pursue some of my personal interests
such as research. Working with Deena Bernstein in the Clinical Research division,
I have continued to involve my NICU in several multi centered clinical trials. There
has also been some opportunity to get more involved with the administrative end
of Sheridan. Besides being a local NICU administrator I have become part of several
committees at Sheridan itself. Sheridan has NICUs all over the country; there have
been opportunities to moonlight. I have filled in North Carolina, the Florida Panhandle,
and in Colorado. Besides the obvious benefit of earning extra money, I`ve had the
opportunity to see how other NICUs operate and I have made several new friends.

Dr. Timothy A. Daly,
ANESTHESIA DEPARTMENT
Rutland Regional Medical Center
"Sheridan is always responsive to any inquiry that I have; be it with regard
to contracts, billing, compliance issues, etc. The biggest challenge we have at
Rutland Regional Medical Center is shortage in manpower and Sheridan has been quite
helpful in providing manpower both MDs and CRNAs out of Florida to fill our manpower
shortfall" |
